Assembly of a traditional Easter Basket

This is the traditional Easter Basket. Not candy and plastic eggs and little toys.  When I was growing up my family and neighbors built this basket as a community of friends, each bringing an element of the basket. This allow this tradition to continue without the required time and resources of our busy schedules.

From Jesse Deley: Pascha, the Easter bread. This was a sweet yeast bread rich in eggs and butter. This bread is a symbol of Christ. It is golden brown color in a round loaf decorated as a crown.

Ham: a symbol of joy and of abundance of Easter

Sausage: (kolbaski) a spicy sausage of pork products indicative of gods favor and generosity.

Egg:,hard boil eggs decorated with symbols and mark made with beeswax symbolize new life and resurrection

Cheese: a hand made cheese of bland flavor but sweet, but familes spice this cheese to ther liking: this is indicative of the moderation that Christians should have in all things.

Horseradish: beets and horseradish and sugar: Yum

Butter: This is shaped into a figure of a lamb. This is to remind us of the goodness of Jesus

Bacon: a piece of undercooked bacon cure with spices. This is to symbolic of the overbundance of Gods. Mercy

Salt: a condiment necessary for flavor in life.

Assembly: These articles are placed in a wicker basket and a ribbon is tied to the handle. A decorated candle is placed in the basket. The basket is covered in a embroidery cloth with a family crest and the words "Christ is risen"

The Demographics of Buying a Business

The Demographics of Buying a Business   A white paper published by BizBuySell recently covered the demographics of those buying a business.  It was fascinating reading with some of their key findings (quoted directly from page 2 of the report below). Business ownership runs in families: 55 percent of sellers have a parent or grandparent that owned a small business. 49 percent of sellers plan to exit their small businesses in the next five years, but only 29 percent are currently prepared for the sale process. Younger buyers are more ethnically diverse than their elders: 49 percent of 18 to 29 year-old buyers identify as a minority, compared to 19 percent of buyers in their 50s or older. The number one motivation for purchasing a small business is the chance to be your own boss, cited by 63 percent of all buyers. 12 percent of sellers and almost 10 percent of buyers are veterans. These are just the key findings of this report but there are many more findings we will describe an...
